New Writing Project: Speaking of the Lyrics

I’m back with a new writing project in mind! Although this blog is not at all famous in any manner, I still feel guilty that I didn’t write any posts for the past week. As I have said, my energy could be fluctuating sometimes, and that it takes a lot of energy to make even a simple announcement like this.

As I have said earlier, I will be starting on a new project entitled Speaking of the Lyrics. With this, I will do my best to feature different musicians and bands with their songs. I plan to feature these songs individually so I could focus on the lyrics and meanings one at a time.

Why would I want to pain myself with this grueling task? One main reason: because a lot of people in the contemporary times don’t give credit enough. Songwriting is difficult, but people now usually choose their go-to songs on the mundane beats, millennial whoops, and catchiness. What about content? Wake up, sheeple!

As a music enthusiast and an aspiring musician myself, this would be a great opportunity to get back on the writing business with a subject category that truly inspires me.

To be honest, this project had been on my mind for about a month now, and I was really excited at first. Well, I’m still exhilarated that I’m doing this, but of course, great powers comes great responsibilities or something along that line. When it comes to anything I do, I would love to not do anything half-assed so the responsibility to think and write clearly and extensively quite dawned on me.

Anyway, the title is still experimental and will be subject to change in case I come up with a better one. I came up with a working outline on how I’ll be writing the posts:

I. First Impressions – initial reactions to the song prior to reading anything about it

II. Musician/Band Background – helps to enlighten people on their type of music

III. Reading the Lyrics – reading through symbolisms in detail

IV. Personal Overall Interpretation – a preliminary conclusion for the gist (including support from music video, if available)

V. Other People’s Interpretations – a comparison of my and others’ conclusions

VI. Rating (out of 5) – purely my personal rating and is very subjective so don’t get offended

I will try to get the best sources I can get the information needed, and I hope there’s enough information on the Internet. LOL By the way, here is an initial list of musicians and bands I would love to feature in the future. For non-English bands, I will be relying on translations for the lyrics (this is why I need to learn more languages haha).

If I did write new blog posts for this project, I will be providing links on this post. Tune in for updates!
